Summer holidays, hot weather, lower oil prices, and the resulting decline in freight and insurance costs are all putting downward pressure on prices. On one hand, production costs have eased, while on the other, demand remains weak. The current slowdown is expected to persist through the end of the summer.<br> Beyond geopolitical factors, iron ore prices will be the key market driver, as supply is expected to increase from both Iran and Africa.<br> In the short term, scrap prices are following their usual seasonal downtrend. Consequently, billet and slab prices are also unlikely to see any meaningful upside.<br> <span><br> In the domestic market</span>: The market has gone through two extremely difficult weeks, largely because money transfers through the country's three main banks were suspended. In addition, business activity is expected to remain subdued during next week due to public holidays.<br> The key issue now is the banking system, as the broader economy depends on the smooth flow of financial transactions. If money transfers return to normal, market activity is expected to recover. Meanwhile, according to remarks attributed to the Central Bank governor, import order registrations are expected to reopen next week. This would revive demand for foreign currency and support a broader economic recovery.<br> Under normal conditions, inflation driven by higher costs and monetary expansion appears inevitable.
