U.S. scrap prices rise

.S. scrap prices started to rebound since the beginning of this year.

Current prices busheling and HMSI scrap have increased by US$15/ton and US$20/ton respectively.

In the U.S. east coast, busheling price hit US$266-283/ton, shredded scrap price reached US$256/ton, while HMSI was priced at US$207/ ton. On the export side, due to less inventory of import scrap, the global market began to activate.

Looking back in 2008, in the January-October, the U.S scrap exports totaled 14.182 million tons, up by 57.8 percent compared with the same period of last year. Source: Yieh.com
