Iran steel market Trend in Week 46th , 2019

Billet

Billet price was upward as expected during last week in Iran. Average price changed from USD 357 /mt to USD 358 /mt ex-work including VAT till Monday last week, by Tuesday market resisted against upward trend and prices became stable.

By last Wednesday, billet offer levels increased but there was limited inquiry in the market as currently debar export level is declining due to the problems in neighboring countries.

Iran billet market is facing with some problems which will show their consequences in coming weeks including limited pellet supply, severe shortage of DRI and also limited scrap availability due to cold weather and decreasing construction activity.

By last week, price gap between billet and debar rose to around USD  46 /mt which is interesting for debar producers and will increase billet demand and its price will rise. But billet supply level cannot be increased easily due to limited supply of its raw materials.

Long Products

Debar price was upward during last week in Iran domestic market as debar diameter 8-32 mm price changed from USD 401 /mt  to USD 405 /mt ex-work including VAT by last Wednesday. Upward trend was mainly due to limited billet supply and lower debar production.

I-beam price also rose as average price of sizes 14,16,18 improved from USD 477 /mt to USD 484 /mt ex-work including VAT by end of last week.

Some market insiders expect prices to improve more in coming weeks.
