China: domestic coke prices grow on stable demand and higher costs- 08 May 10

Domestic coke prices have risen in China early in May because of higher production costs of the material, mainly due to increased prices for coking coal. The prices are also pushed up by stable demand from Chinese steelmakers.

In the middle of April, coke was available in Shanxi Province at RMB 1,850-1,900/t exw ($271-278/t) with VAT, whereas the current price is higher by RMB 50/t ($7/t) (by RMB 100/t ($15/t) in some provinces).

Export prices stay at $500-510/t fob (including 40% export duty).
