According to National Railway Department, the Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway construction has achieved over fulfilling performances since it started operation on April 18th 2008. And it is planned to run through all the tunnels this year.

2009 is an important year for Beijing-Shanghai railway construction. As per the incomplete statistics, the 6 billion tonnes basic investment issued by the Department needs 2 million tonnes of steel products and 12 million tonnes of concrete.

As learned, the whole line from Beijing to Shanghai would take 5 hours with the speed of 350 kilometer per hour after it completed.
