Europe, US rebar & plate prices stable, says The Steel Index

The latest reference prices released by The Steel Index this week show that plate and rebar prices in Europe and the US have largely held steady compared to last week. However, southern European plate prices are at 12-month lows, while rebar price levels in both European regions are at levels which are now 12-14% higher than the recent lows.

The US plate reference price FOB Midwest mill is slightly lower at $948/short ton ($1,045/tonne). The average US plate delivery time is unchanged at under 4 weeks. The northern European plate ex-mill reference price is unchanged from last week’s level at €744/tonne ($1,062/t). Average plate delivery time is steady at 6.9 weeks. The plate reference price in southern Europe is also unchanged, while the average delivery time is stable at 6 weeks.

The northern European rebar ex-mill reference price is the same as last week, while the southern European rebar ex-mill reference price has risen slightly to €446/tonne ($636/t). Both average delivery times are longer than last week, with northern European lead-times at 4.7 weeks.
