According to a draft policy document reported on Wednesday, China will eliminate steel firm with annual production capacity under 1 million tons.

As China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will increase the environmental standards to the steel mills, it will request steel mills to upgrade the facilities or let their licenses cancelled, since the steel sector is fragmented.

The ministry also considers this proposal may help reducing overcapacity in the steel sector.
