According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Vietnam’s steel demand in 2009 is expected to increase by approximately 12 million tons, up by 10 percent on the previous year.

The domestic supply is expected to reach 6.2 million tons and imports will hit 6.6 million tons.

It is expected that the steel demand in 2010 will rise by 4 percent to about 12.5~13 million tons while the domestic steel supply quantity will be at around 13-14 million.
