Nucor Corp. plans to increase hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized product prices by a minimum of $40 per ton, effective with all orders acknowledged to ship in the week ending Oct. 24.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based company cited improved demand for sheet products, strengthening forecasts from its customer base and better economic conditions, adding that it reserves the right to review and re-quote any offers that aren't confirmed with either a Nucor sales acknowledgment or written acceptance by both parties.

The increase follows similar moves announced recently by a number of other North American carbon steel sheet producers.
