Rusmet reported that in four weeks from 20.07.09 to 16.08.09 total index of average weekly prices for rolled steel grew by 1.7 % as compared to July. The index of average weekly prices for section steel grew by 1.8 %.
On various kinds of section steel the prices change made:
1. Rebar grew by 1.9%
2. Wire rod grew by 1.8%
3. Beam down by 2.3%
4. Channel down by 0.9%
5. Angle grew by 3.6%
6. Round bar grew by 3%.
In August rolled steel prices growth continues in all regions. Many analysts think that this growth is caused rather by the stockpiles run out and the announcements about the end of the crisis, than by the production growth in consuming industries. That is why new prices decrease is expected in autumn. But such a point of view is not the only and the forecasts for autumn remain indefinite.
Domestic market prices in early August continue to grow but not as steady as in late July. The increase is more like the fluctuations around some point of balance. The forecast for the nearest future is the continuation of these fluctuations.
