Vietnam billet import likely to decline

Vietnamese market for billet is seeing a decline of buyer activity, threatening with a drop of prices despite relative stability of import billet prices and even some growth of Taiwanese semis over the past two weeks.

As per report prices for Russian billet are focused mostly at two week ago levels of USD 420 to USD 430 per tonne CNF. In particular, billet from Evraz Holding is offered at USD 425 to USD 430 per tonne CNF.

Taiwanese billet is offered to Vietnam at USD 425 to USD 430 per tonne CNF. Prices for South Korean billet are in the same range. However, lower prices have also been reported this week. Market operators say some offers of Amurmetall billet are coming at USD 415 per tonne CNF.

Suppliers of Japanese billet which offered at USD 460 to USD 465 per tonne CNF two weeks ago have cooled down and are holding off from offers.
