It is reported that pig iron quotations in the CIS countries nose up to USD 280 per tonne to USD 300 per tonne FOB Black Sea at present. Local producers predicted a rally at the end of this month, but no transaction has been reported now.

A trader said current quotation will not attract more deals, and he would not pay more than USD 275 per tonne for it. Besides, Ukraine pig iron producers sold some products at the price of USD 250 per tonne FOB two weeks ago.

Pig iron price has once touched USD 210 per tonne to USD 215 per tonne in the early April, the lowest price of this year. However, pig iron makers in the CIS countries lift their quotations backed by rising scrap price.
