It is reported that owing to the gradual recovery of the macro economy and seasonal rise in coal consumption, electricity consumption in May will go up steadily. And resultantly thermal coal demand will probably go up in the near future.

Statistics from State Electricity Regulatory Commission indicate China''s power output dropped 3.9%YoY in mid April while that in early Apr dropped 3.5%YoY. Although China''s industrial economy was badly hit by the world economic recession, China''s power consumption still posted rise on a seasonal basis. In addition, the declining rate of power consumption has edged down. Both of these show that China''s power consumption is warming up. Under such circumstances coupled with seasonal high months, power consumption is likely to go up gradually from May.
