ArabSteel reported that Egyptian Iron and Steel Company’s production of pig iron exceeded 1 million tonnes of in 2008 against 1.175 million tonnes in 2007.

The company’s total production amounted to 570.101 tonnes against 622.437 tonnes in 2007 and 118.000 tonnes of billets against 120.000 tonnes in the same period.

The company is directing most of its sales to the domestic market. The total sales to the domestic market in 2008 amounted to 739.000 tonnes against 697.000 tonnes in 2007.
