Indian government is considering imposing a 15 percent import tax for some on certain steel products, such as HRC, HR plate, HR strip.
The government has started to investigate some import countries in order to protect their domestic steel enterprises.
Two of private steel enterprises, Essar and Ispat have proposed this protect tax issue because the steel import volume which were from China, Japan and Korea had promptly soared since April of 2008, which had caused the reduction of capacity utilization and sales. Source: Yieh.com
