Turkish mills to decrease production due to shortage of scrap

As a result of insufficient scrap inventory to ensure the production, some of Turkey’s electric furnaces have to decrease production in April.

Although the Turkish steel mills entered the scrap market a few weeks ago, the shipments have to wait for 3-4 weeks for delivery, so they don''t have enough scrap steel or billet to meet the needs of production in April and the operating rate remains at 50%.

As CIS billet prices in Turkey rise, Turkish mills will again begin to purchase scrap.
